Cretcher-Heartland was formed in 2008 with the merger two companies who shared a vision and a purpose. The merger of Cretcher-Lynch & Co. Inc. and Heartland Employee Benefits LLC created one of the largest independent insurance and employment benefits agencies in the Kansas City region.

The new organization's growth and momentum is driven by the passionate culture and strong roots of these two companies. Cretcher-Lynch was formed in 1974 by Bert Cretcher and Edward Lynch and became one of the region's fastest-growing independent agencies. Over the years, Cretcher-Lynch established a strong reputation for service-driven expertise in commercial insurance, surety bonds and employee benefits. Heartland Employee Benefits, LLC was established in 1996 and realized their vision to create a premier employee benefits agency driven by unexcelled service and innovative, customized benefits packages.

Together as Cretcher-Heartland, the new organization continues these strong traditions while building on them. Today Cretcher-Heartland is delivering enhanced resources for clients with the same quality, creativity and responsiveness that clients came to expect from Cretcher-Lynch and Heartland Employee Benefits. This includes new division in Risk Management Solutions and Human Resources Consulting.
